We care for children — ages 4 and up

Many sleep clinics only see adults, which leaves families driving all over the Valley looking for help. We're different: our team evaluates and treats children from age four onward, right here in Glendale. That means one trusted place for the whole family.

Good sleep isn't a luxury for a growing child — it's when their body grows, their brain sorts the day, and their mood resets. When sleep goes sideways, you often see it first in behavior, focus, and school. Getting to the root of it can change everything, and it's usually more fixable than parents expect.

Common childhood sleep issues

These are some of the most frequent reasons families come to see us. Any one of them is worth a conversation.

Snoring & pediatric sleep apnea

In children, chronic snoring and pauses in breathing are often tied to enlarged tonsils or adenoids. Untreated, it can affect growth, behavior, and attention — so it's worth checking.

Bedwetting

Nighttime wetting past the age it usually stops can sometimes be linked to disrupted, poor-quality sleep — including undiagnosed sleep apnea. We help sort out the cause.

Night terrors & sleepwalking

Sudden screaming, confusion, or walking during deep sleep can frighten parents. These are common, usually outgrown, and manageable — and we'll tell you when they warrant a closer look.

Bedtime resistance & insomnia

Stalling, fear of the dark, or a child who simply can't fall or stay asleep. Small, consistent changes to routine make a big difference, and we'll build a plan that fits your family.

Restless, broken sleep

A child who tosses, sweats, kicks, or wakes often may not be getting the deep rest they need. We look for what's interrupting the night.

Daytime sleepiness & focus

Falling asleep in the car or classroom, or trouble concentrating, can be a downstream sign of a nighttime sleep problem worth investigating.

Signs it's worth getting checked

  • 1 Loud snoring most nights of the week
  • 2 Pauses, gasping, or choking during sleep
  • 3 Mouth-breathing or a very restless bed
  • 4 Bedwetting past the expected age
  • 5 Hard to wake, or sleepy during the day
  • 6 Trouble focusing, moodiness, or school struggles

You know your child best. If your gut says something's off with their sleep, trust it — a visit brings answers and peace of mind, either way.

What a child sleep study is really like

The words "sleep study" can sound intimidating. In practice, it's calm, painless, and designed around comfort — and a parent stays the whole time.

A comfortable overnight studySoft sensors are gently placed to watch breathing, oxygen, and sleep. Nothing hurts, your child wears their own pajamas, and you stay in the room overnight.
Clear results & a planDr. Patel reviews the findings with you in plain language and builds a step-by-step plan that fits your child and your family.

Bring the comfort items — a favorite stuffed animal, blanket, and bedtime book all help the night feel normal.

The good news

Most childhood sleep problems respond well to treatment

The right approach depends on what we find. We start simple and gentle, and we always explain the "why" so you feel confident.

Routine & behavioral support

For bedtime battles, insomnia, and night terrors, small consistent changes to routine and environment are often all it takes. We coach you through it.

Treating the airway

When snoring or apnea is tied to enlarged tonsils or adenoids, we coordinate with your child's pediatrician and, when needed, an ENT specialist.

Ongoing partnership

We stay in your corner — following up, adjusting the plan, and working alongside your pediatrician so nothing slips through the cracks.

Every child's plan is individual and made together with you. This is draft guidance — your child's care is always tailored by their physician.

Parent FAQs

What ages do you see?

We care for children ages 4 and up, as well as teens and adults. That means your whole family can be seen in one place, close to home in Glendale.

Can I stay with my child during the sleep study?

Yes — always. A parent stays in the room for the entire overnight study. Your presence is exactly what helps your child feel safe and settle in for the night.

Does the sleep study hurt?

No. The sensors are soft and are gently placed on the skin and scalp with tape or mild adhesive — nothing pokes or breaks the skin. Most children adjust within a few minutes.

My child just snores. Is that really a problem?

Occasional snoring with a cold is common. But loud snoring most nights — especially with pauses, gasping, or restless sleep — can point to pediatric sleep apnea, which is worth checking. A short visit gives you a clear answer.

Does insurance cover pediatric sleep care?

Most major Arizona plans and Medicaid/AHCCCS cover pediatric sleep evaluations and studies. We'll verify your specific benefits before the visit so there are no surprises. Call us at (602) 206-6262 and we'll help.

How soon can my child be seen?

New patients are typically seen within the week, in person in Glendale or by telehealth anywhere in Arizona.
